AMRITSAR, May 10 — India’s military on Saturday reported it intercepted and destroyed multiple armed drones flying over the Khasa Cantt military base in Amritsar, calling the action a blatant violation of sovereignty by Pakistan.
In a statement posted on X, the military said, “The hostile drones were instantly engaged and destroyed by our air defence units.” The drones were detected early Saturday morning.
Condemning the incident, the statement added, “Pakistan’s blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable.”
The military has not confirmed any casualties or damage on the ground. A probe into the origin and payload of the drones is underway.
Security has been heightened in the region, which lies close to the India-Pakistan border.
