Deportation trail exposes murder conspiracy in Faridkot

by TheReportingTimes

Faridkot, December 5 — A Faridkot woman deported from Canada last year is among three suspects arrested for the alleged murder of her husband, a killing police say was initially disguised as a robbery.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Pragya Jain said Rupinder Kaur confessed to plotting the murder of her husband, Gurwinder Singh, along with Harkanwalpreet Singh and Vishavjeet Singh. “Her story about thieves breaking in fell apart quickly,” Jain said. “She later revealed they had administered a toxic substance and assaulted him.”

Police said Rupinder raised a cry for help on the night of November 28–29, prompting neighbours to arrive and find Gurwinder dead. Investigators noted bruises on his back and possible marks of strangulation. The final medical opinion is awaited.

Rupinder had moved to Canada after her 2023 marriage but was deported in 2024. Police sources said she developed a relationship during that period with Harkanwalpreet of Balluana village, Bathinda, and maintained contact after returning to India.

Investigators said both men fled to Mumbai with valuables taken from the house. Vishavjeet surrendered in court earlier this week, leading police to another aide who helped arrange his escape.

In her complaint, Gurwinder’s sister, Manveer Kaur, said her brother had feared he would be harmed and had repeatedly told the family about his wife’s “affair and threats.”
