Panchkula, May 19– In a sweeping crackdown on criminal elements, district police on Sunday arrested 15 individuals during a coordinated action under Operation Akraman, officials said. The operation also led to the registration of four FIRs and the recovery of narcotics, weapons, and stolen property.
A total of 40 police teams, comprising 172 personnel, were deployed to conduct the raids across multiple locations. “This was a targeted operation against individuals involved in a range of criminal activities, including those evading arrest,” a senior police officer said.
Among those apprehended, four were booked in theft cases, two under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, two under the Arms Act, one under the Excise Act, and two under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Several absconders, bail jumpers, and individuals with active non-bailable warrants were also detained.
Police recovered 15 grams of heroin and 25 bottles of illicit liquor during the NDPS-related raids. Weapons seized included two country-made pistols, three live cartridges, and a large knife. One stolen bicycle was also recovered.
In addition to criminal arrests, action was taken against traffic offenders, with four drivers fined for driving in the wrong lane.
“We remain committed to ensuring public safety and bringing offenders to justice,” the police official said, adding that further operations of similar scale will continue to maintain law and order.
