LONDON, September 20 — UK crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers has announced a reward of £20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those behind the rape of a Sikh woman in Oldbury.
West Midlands Police said on Friday that the investigation “continues at pace” into the assault, which took place last week on Tame Road and involved a woman in her 20s.
Concerns were raised by community groups after a man in his 30s, arrested on suspicion of rape, was released on bail without being charged.
“We know that this attack has caused worry and concern for local people,” said Alan Edwards, West Midlands regional manager at Crimestoppers. “We believe someone out there knows something and we want to encourage them to come forward anonymously.”
Edwards added the reward was being offered to push anyone with knowledge to speak up. “No matter how small the detail, it could be vital to the investigation,” he said.
