Chandigarh, Aug 21 — The Punjab Local Government Department on Wednesday transferred 24 Executive Officers (EOs) of Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats with immediate effect, including another change at the Kharar Municipal Council, where officers have been reshuffled repeatedly.
Kharar EO Gurbakshish Singh has been moved to Khanna, while Sukhdev Singh, EO of Payal, will assume charge in Kharar. Officials confirmed this marks the ninth transfer of a Kharar EO under the AAP government since February 27, 2023.
Gurbakshish Singh had only joined the Kharar post on May 15, serving just over three months. His predecessor, Ravi Jindal, had lasted less than five months before being shifted.
The frequent reshuffles come at a time when Kharar has drawn political attention. Local MLA Anmol Gagan Mann, a former cabinet minister, recently announced her resignation from the assembly before retracting the decision.
The Local Government Department said the transfers were part of routine administrative reshuffling.
