MUKTSAR, June 2 — Nearly 25 employees, including doctors, lab technicians and nurses at the Civil Hospital, Muktsar, have been served show-cause notices for being absent without prior intimation or reporting late to duty.
The lapses came to light during a surprise inspection conducted by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Chandar Shekhar Kakkar on Saturday. Taking serious note of the negligence, the CMO issued notices and warned that such behaviour would not be tolerated in a public healthcare institution.
“Staff must report on time. Any future lapse will attract strict disciplinary action,” Dr Kakkar said. He also directed doctors to prescribe only medicines available in the hospital pharmacy to ensure better service to patients.
“This hospital serves a large number of people. Any negligence is a betrayal of public trust. Staff must remain committed to their duties,” the CMO stated.
Dr Navroz Goyal, officiating Senior Medical Officer, confirmed that around 25 employees had received notices. “Some cited parent-teacher meetings at their children’s schools, as it was a Saturday, but all such absences must be communicated in advance,” he added.
