39 Bangladeshis Held for Illegal Stay in Hisar

by TheReportingTimes

HANSI, May 13 — Thirty-nine Bangladeshi nationals, including 14 men, 11 women, and 14 children, have been detained by Hansi police for allegedly living in India without legal documentation. The group had been working at a brick kiln on Tosham Road, according to officials.

Preliminary investigations suggest the individuals entered India illegally through the Bangladesh border. None of them possessed valid identity documents at the time of detention.

The arrests followed a survey prompted by confidential intelligence inputs, police said.

“Legal procedures are being followed in the matter, and further action will be taken after completing all documentation and related formalities,” Hansi Superintendent of Police Amit Yashvardhan told reporters.

The detainees remain in police custody as authorities, in coordination with central security agencies, continue verifying their identities. Officials said once documentation is compiled and the legal process completed, the group will be transferred to a designated holding camp in Delhi.

The owner of the brick kiln where the group had worked for nearly a month claimed he hired them from Rajasthan and was unaware of their immigration status.

Speaking to the media, he said, “Some families had Aadhaar cards from West Bengal. A few others joined just a couple of days ago.”

Police sources noted that this operation is part of a larger verification initiative across the region aimed at identifying undocumented foreign nationals, particularly from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

“This is not an isolated incident. We are actively checking multiple locations,” an intelligence official familiar with the matter said.

Last month, a family of 15 Pakistani-origin residents living in Hisar’s Balsamand village was shifted to the same Delhi camp following similar verification measures.

In a separate case, 14 Bangladeshi migrants were recently detained from brick kilns in Mahendergarh district. Authorities said the group possessed fake Aadhaar cards, and further investigation is underway.
