Ferozepur, June 18: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Ferozepur police seized 9.4 kg of heroin, ₹2.10 lakh in drug money, and 45,000 intoxicating capsules from six accused in separate operations.
DIG Harmanbir Singh Gill said a naka was set up on Sannher Road in Zira, where two youths on a motorcycle were signalled to stop. Upon questioning, the police arrested Harmesh Singh of Basti Machhiya and recovered heroin and cash, while his accomplice, Ajay, fled under cover of darkness.
In another operation, SSP Bhupinder Singh said 45,000 intoxicating capsules were recovered from a car. The five arrested in this case were identified as Manpreet Singh (Bodia), Raman Singh (Kalewala), Kulwant Singh (Rau Ke Hithad), Mandeep Kumar (Khai Feme Ke), and Gurvinder Singh (Nanakpura).
The SSP said all five were part of an inter-district network smuggling large consignments of drugs for local distribution. Further investigations are underway to trace the supply chain.
