Ludhiana MC Suspends Sanitation Worker for Negligence

by TheReportingTimes

Ludhiana, July 8 — The Municipal Corporation of Ludhiana has suspended a sanitation worker for alleged dereliction of duty after continued open dumping of garbage was reported in his assigned area, officials said on Monday.

The employee, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, was responsible for maintaining cleanliness along the 100-feet road under Zone B. Despite the installation of static compactors in the area, municipal officials said garbage continued to pile up in the open — a situation Singh failed to control.

“Negligence in enforcing waste management norms will not be tolerated. The health branch has been instructed to maintain strict cleanliness across all zones,” said MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal.

The suspension follows a directive issued recently by Dachalwal, who has called for stringent monitoring of sanitation standards citywide. He emphasized that solid waste management is a top priority for the civic body and field inspections would be conducted in the coming days to assess on-ground performance.

“Strict action will continue against those who neglect their responsibilities,” the MC said in a statement, signaling that more disciplinary measures may follow if lapses persist.

Officials added that steps are being accelerated to improve Ludhiana’s waste management infrastructure and ensure compliance with sanitation norms.
