PAU Ranked Among World’s Top 100 Agri Institutes

by TheReportingTimes

Ludhiana, July 25: The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has earned a spot among the world’s top 100 agricultural institutions, securing the 93rd rank in the EduRank-2025 global list. Among 4,407 institutes assessed in the agricultural sciences category, PAU is the only state agricultural university from India to feature, reflecting its rising global academic and research influence.

EduRank, an independent international ranking platform, evaluates over 14,000 institutions based on metrics such as research output, citation impact, and academic reputation.

“Only 22 institutions from Asia made it to the global top 100 in agricultural sciences. PAU’s inclusion is a powerful testament to its growing international stature in agricultural education and research,” said Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU.

India is also represented in the list by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, ranked 47th. However, unlike the IARI, which operates under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), PAU is a full-fledged state university — making its presence on the list particularly significant.

Dr Gosal noted that PAU has consistently maintained academic excellence. “We were ranked the number one state agricultural university in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Ministry of Education in both 2023 and 2024,” he said. The Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF)-2025 also named PAU the top state agri varsity in India.

The recognition places PAU firmly on the global map and reaffirms its leadership in agricultural innovation, education, and impact.
