LUDHIANA, Aug. 24 — Panic spread in Dhandari Khurd on Saturday morning after residents discovered the body of an unidentified man, believed to be about 50 years old, near the local cremation ground, police said.
The incident was reported around 5 a.m. when locals spotted the body and alerted the Focal Point police station. Station House Officer Kulbir Singh and his team reached the spot and began an inquiry.
Inspector Rajinder Singh said the deceased had visible head injuries and blood coming from his nose, leading investigators to suspect murder. “We are probing the case from all possible angles, including murder. The exact cause of death will be ascertained after a post-mortem examination,” officials noted.
The body has been shifted to the civil hospital mortuary, where it will be preserved for 72 hours while efforts to establish the man’s identity continue, police added.
