CHANDIGARH, Sept. 29 — Sanjay Tandon, president of the UT Cricket Association (UTCA), has been appointed to the governing council of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). The decision was taken during the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) annual general meeting held in Mumbai on Sunday.
The governing council will oversee the operations and growth of the WPL, which has emerged as a flagship women’s cricket tournament in India. Alongside Tandon, the panel includes newly elected BCCI president Mithun Manhas, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, joint secretary Devajit Saikia, Prabhtej Bhatia, and IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, among others.
Officials said the formation of the council reflects the board’s intent to strengthen the WPL’s structure and expand its reach.
