Chandigarh, Oct 8: The Punjab Engineering College (PEC), one of the region’s premier engineering institutions, is facing a leadership vacuum as its top three administrative posts have fallen vacant.
Rajinder Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of the Trident Group, has stepped down as Chairperson of PEC’s Board of Governors. Senior PEC officials have confirmed his resignation, marking another major exit from the institution’s leadership.
Following Gupta’s resignation, the post of Chairperson will now be filled by the Chandigarh Administration. As per rules, any eminent educationist or industrialist can be appointed to the position.
The vacancies in the top three posts — including the chairperson and other senior administrative positions — are likely to impact decision-making and ongoing institutional reforms at PEC.
Sources said the administration is in the process of shortlisting names, and the appointments are expected to be announced soon.
