Haryana hikes sugarcane price; CM calls it Diwali gift for farmers

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, October 20: On the occasion of Diwali, Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini on Monday announced a ₹15 per quintal hike in the support price of sugarcane, terming it a festive gift for the state’s farmers.

The rate of early variety sugarcane has been raised from ₹400 to ₹415 per quintal, while the late variety will now fetch ₹408 per quintal, up from ₹393.

Calling the decision a tribute to farmers’ hard work and resilience, Saini said it would “further strengthen their financial position” and give “a new impetus to Haryana’s agricultural economy.”

“This decision is not only in the interest of farmers but also reflects our commitment to make agriculture more rewarding,” the Chief Minister said, adding that Haryana now offers the highest sugarcane support price in the country.
