SRINAGAR/Pulwama, Nov 14 — The residence of Dr Umar Mohammad, accused in the Delhi car blast near the Red Fort, was demolished in Pulwama during an overnight security operation, officials said on Friday.
The house in Koil village was razed at around 2:30 a.m. using an IED placed by security personnel. “The procedure was conducted under strict supervision, and the area remained sealed throughout the night,” an official informed KNO.
Dr Umar is accused of driving the explosive-laden vehicle that detonated on Monday, killing nine people and injuring 20. Authorities said forensic teams worked through the week to confirm his identity.
On Thursday, DNA analysis confirmed his role, matching his sample with that of his mother and brother, both of whom had been detained earlier. “The match was conclusive and leaves no doubt about who was behind the wheel,” an investigator noted.
The demolition comes amid heightened security measures as central agencies continue to track leads connected to the blast.
