Chandigarh, November 14: Punjab’s industrial and business reforms have earned the state the “Top Achiever” distinction in the Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP) 2024, according to India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
The award, presented by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi, reflects Punjab’s performance in areas such as attracting investment, facilitating business start-ups, issuing construction permits, healthcare services, and service management.

Since the Mann government took office in March 2022, investment proposals worth ₹1.23 lakh crore have been received, with the potential to provide jobs for over 4.7 lakh youth. Experts said sectors like food processing, textiles, IT, tourism, and auto components have seen notable growth.
“By focusing on administrative efficiency and investor confidence, Punjab is fast becoming a global investment hub,” an official commented. Investments have come from multiple countries, including the US, Japan, Germany, the UK, Switzerland, France, and the UAE.
The state’s Fast Track Punjab Portal, touted as one of India’s most advanced single-window systems, provides more than 150 services online, simplifying processes for businesses. Officials said the portal has played a key role in enhancing transparency and speeding up approvals.
DPIIT’s recognition underscores Punjab’s growing reputation as an ease-of-doing-business leader, reinforcing its position in India’s industrial landscape.
