SRINAGAR, Dec. 5 — IndiGo cancelled 10 of 18 flights from Srinagar on Friday, disrupting travel plans and forcing passengers to pay inflated fares on other airlines.
The normal IndiGo fare from Srinagar to Delhi ranges between ₹3,500 and ₹4,500, but some last-minute bookings surged up to ₹7,000, passengers said.
Javid, a businessman, said he arrived early in the morning in freezing weather but had to leave after being informed about the cancellations. “I had to board the morning flight, but after waiting for two hours in the cold, I was forced to return,” he said.
Airport officials said some travelers chose to stay in hope that flights would resume later. Srinagar airport authorities confirmed that alternate airlines continued operations on certain routes, though passengers faced higher fares.
Several stranded travelers expressed frustration over the lack of timely updates and assistance. “I had no choice but to adjust my travel plans last minute,” said Deepak Gupta, heading to Delhi.
