Abohar, Feb 17: A 24-year-old widow from Karnataka has relocated to Abohar, Punjab, after traveling over 2,100 kilometers with her two young children to reside with a teenager she met through a mobile game. Punjab and Karnataka police officials stated Tuesday that the woman has officially declined to return to her home state, asserting her right to stay with her companion.

The woman stated that her husband passed away approximately a year ago, after which she moved back into her parents’ residence. During this period, she began playing the mobile game “Free Fire,” where she connected with 19-year-old Sonu, an Abohar resident. She affirmed that their digital acquaintance developed into a romantic relationship over several months of chatting on Instagram and gaming.

According to local police sources, the woman left Karnataka on January 8, under the pretext of traveling for work. Upon reaching Delhi, she reportedly discarded her SIM card before arriving in Abohar on January 12. “I left my home to secure a future for my two children and to find my love,” the woman maintained during official questioning.

A Karnataka police team arrived in Abohar this week following a missing persons report filed by her family. However, officers noted that because the woman is a consenting adult, they could not compel her to return. Sonu’s mother, whose family originally hails from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, declared her support for the union. She stated that as long as her son is happy, the family welcomes the newcomer and her children into their household.
