CHANDIGARH, March 13, 2026 — The Mann-led Punjab Government has unveiled a historic financial assistance package aimed at the empowerment of women across the state. The announcement was met with widespread enthusiasm, as women from various districts celebrated by singing traditional ‘boliyan’ and dancing to the beats of the dhol.

The administration affirmed that the scheme provides a tiered monthly allowance based on category, with ₹1,000 allocated for general category women and ₹1,500 for those in the Scheduled Caste category. The government maintained that the direct-to-bank transfer method was chosen specifically to eliminate the possibility of corruption and ensure that the full benefit reaches every woman.

“Many thanks to Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for giving this wonderful gift,” women stated during local gatherings. Participants in the ‘Jaago’ processions asserted that the timing of the assistance is crucial for managing rising household costs. Families from middle-class and lower-income backgrounds noted that the guaranteed monthly income would help them meet personal needs without external dependence.

The state government declared that the visible joy in the streets reflects the success of its pro-people policies. Officials affirmed that the initiative is more than just financial aid; it is a strategic effort to enhance the social and economic standing of women in society. The administration asserted that this step is expected to bring long-term positive results for the welfare of families throughout Punjab.
