Ghaziabad police apprehend security guard in bank manager’s slaying

Verbal altercation over administrative issues leads to fatal shooting in Balram Nagar

Ghaziabad, March 17: Authorities in Ghaziabad have arrested an ex-serviceman for the alleged murder of a Punjab & Sind Bank branch manager during a confrontation on Monday. The incident, which took place at the Loni Border branch, resulted in the death of 36-year-old Abhishek Kumar after a dispute regarding employment terms escalated into violence.

Police reports indicate that the suspect, Ravinder Hooda, arrived at the bank around 1:15 p.m. to retrieve his double-barrel gun. Following the retrieval of the firearm, Hooda entered the manager’s cabin where a verbal argument ensued.

ACP Gyan Prakash Rai affirmed that the investigation revealed the guard was miffed over issues concerning his leaves and pay. Rai declared that the suspect fired a single shot hitting Kumar in the chest before fleeing the premises with an accomplice.

The victim, who resided in a high-rise at Bhopra, was pronounced dead shortly after the encounter. Officials noted that the swift coordination of the Ankur Vihar circle police led to the successful capture of both the shooter and his associate later that night.
