New Delhi, June 30: The Indian Army transitioned to its new leadership on Tuesday as General Dhiraj Seth officially assumed charge as the Chief of the Army Staff. General Seth brings nearly 40 years of comprehensive field experience to the role, having led military units at every organizational level through highly diverse conflict environments.

His extensive command record includes leading an Armoured Regiment in the Desert Sector, heading an Armoured Brigade in the Western Theatre, and managing critical operations for a Counter-Insurgency Force in Jammu and Kashmir. As a lieutenant general, he also directed the Sudarshan Chakra Corps, which stands as one of the premier strike formations within the military establishment.

Outgoing leadership noted that the integration of modern warfare practices remains a primary objective for the coming years. Military analysts asserted that General Seth’s broad strategic perspective, refined during his tenure as General Officer Commanding for the Delhi Area and through international exposure, is perfectly suited for long-term force structuring initiatives.

The general’s operational profile is further marked by high-stakes regional management. During his recent leadership of the Pune-based Southern Command, the elite formation maintained a high degree of operational readiness during Operation Sindoor last year. This deep tactical familiarity across various terrains remains a defining asset as he takes over responsibilities for the nation’s land defense and long-term combat effectiveness.
