Chamba, July 24: A devastating landslide near Kaddu Nala claimed 13 lives after falling rocks and heavy debris completely submerged a taxi travelling toward the Pangi Valley. The incident occurred shortly after traffic resumed along the Udaipur–Killar road, where passengers had been stranded overnight in Tindi owing to earlier route closures.
“Travellers should carefully review official warnings and follow administrative advisories before undertaking journeys in vulnerable hilly areas,” Resident Commissioner Amandeep Singh stated while issuing safety guidance.
Emergency response units from Lahaul and Spiti district administration reached the location to oversee rescue operations at the accident site. Administrative officials affirmed that the affected stretch, maintained by the Border Roads Organisation, remains under close monitoring while authorities assess the situation and coordinate further assistance for the victims’ families.
