MANSA — Intensifying political pressure over the death of anti-drug campaigner Parvinder Singh Jhota, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon traveled to Mansa on Saturday to meet with protesting locals and the family of the deceased activist.
Dhillon declared Jhota a martyr for his relentless campaign against narcotics in the region and strongly reiterated demands for a federal investigation into the homicide.
“He has made a great sacrifice by raising his voice against the drug menace,” Dhillon remarked after speaking with Bhim Singh, the father of the slain activist, at the demonstration venue.
According to the state BJP chief, central leadership took cognizance of the incident by requesting administrative clarifications from the Punjab Chief Secretary, though he asserted that local authorities lack a credible response regarding escalating security concerns.
