Gurdaspur, August 25: In the Gurdaspur area of Punjab, a pastor and eight other people are accused of beating a 30-year-old man to death in an effort “to get his body rid of the devil”.

According to the police, Samuel Masih, a resident of Singhpura village in Dhariwal in Gurdaspur, used to scream and have seizures.
According to his family, on Wednesday they held a prayer session for Samuel at their residence with a local preacher known only as Jacob Masih.
The pastor revealed to the family that the devil had possessed him. The pastor then began beating him up with eight other people, telling his family that this would “drive the devil away” from his body.
He promised the family that Masih would not suffer any harm, according to the police.
Daily wager Samuel was severely beaten he instantly passed away. Police reported that the following day, the family buried him.
Samuel’s mother and his wife lodged a complaint against the pastor two days following the incident.
On Saturday, Samuel’s body was dug up for a post-mortem investigation. Duty Judge Inderjit Kaur oversaw the entire procedure, according to the police.
According to authorities, a case has been filed under the appropriate provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the pastor and eight other people.
