NEW DELHI, OCT 23: The Aam Aadmi Party launched a coordinated attack against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning the central government’s national security strategy and drug enforcement record. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj emphasized that the entry of cross-border narcotics from foreign regions represents a failure of border management under the Home Ministry, pointing out that illegal substances remain widespread across multiple states and the capital.
Adding to the criticism, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh cited official records regarding the ₹20,000-crore drug recovery at Mundra port in Gujarat, criticizing the lack of decisive public statements and action regarding high-profile port operations. Singh contrasted these federal lapses with historical political decisions in Punjab, accusing previous BJP-Akali coalitions of fostering the state’s initial narcotics crisis.
Responding to federal commentary on state performance, AAP leadership highlighted massive enforcement milestones executed by the Bhagwant Mann administration. Officials emphasized that Punjab police have dismantled more than 1,200 criminal modules and executed over 127,000 drug-related arrests since 2022, underscoring their ongoing commitment to eradicating organized crime across the state.
