Chandigarh, Feb 25: Baltej Pannu, State Media In-charge for AAP Punjab, has questioned the credibility of SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal’s claims regarding border security and drug control. Pannu maintained that the period between 2007 and 2017 saw the emergence of drug outlets across the state, alleging that individuals with modest means became billionaires through the illicit trade under the Akali administration.
During a media briefing, Pannu affirmed that the people of Punjab have not forgotten the Nabha jailbreak or the instances where Akali supporters allegedly celebrated the murder of a police official in Amritsar. He stated that those currently out on bail in firing cases should not provide lectures on maintaining law and order.
“In his next rally, Sukhbir Badal must tell people what he did during 10 years in power and how ‘chitta’ entered Punjab,” Pannu declared. He noted that the transition from scooter mechanics to billionaires by certain individuals during that era remains a point of concern for the public.
The AAP leader stated that the Bhagwant Mann-led government has formed village-level committees to fight the war against narcotics with transparency. He asserted that while the current administration is focused on root-level eradication, the Akali leadership is merely driven by a hunger for power to restore their previous influence. Pannu concluded by stating that the silence of the Badal family on questions raised by prominent Sikh personalities further diminishes their standing.
