Neel Garg cites crime data to counter BJP’s claims on Punjab’s law and order

AMRITSAR, Feb 21 — The visit of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini to Amritsar was met with a large-scale protest by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists on Saturday. Protesters gathered in significant numbers outside the Chief Minister’s event venues, waving black flags to signal their disapproval of the Union Government’s treatment of Punjab.

MLA Jeevan Jyot Kaur, accompanied by several senior party colleagues, affirmed that the protest served as a clear message against the withholding of Punjab’s rightful financial dues. She maintained that the BJP has consistently acted against the interests of the state’s residents, particularly in the sectors of education and agriculture. “The people of Punjab will not be fooled by false propaganda,” Kaur asserted during the demonstration.

During the protest, AAP leader Neel Garg challenged the Haryana Chief Minister’s remarks on Punjab’s governance. He stated that Haryana has witnessed a concerning number of murders and atrocities against women and Dalits in recent years. Garg maintained that Punjab’s crime rankings remain significantly lower than those of Haryana, according to official data.

Responding to the BJP’s comments on agrarian distress, Garg declared that the debt burden on Punjab’s farmers escalated primarily during the years the BJP shared power in the state. He urged the Haryana Chief Minister to fulfill his responsibilities toward his own electorate rather than seeking political mileage in Punjab through baseless allegations. The protest concluded with a call for the central government to release all pending rural development and health funds immediately.
