AAP Leader’s Son Dies in Motorcycle Crash

CHANDIGARH, Apr 19 — Uday Singh, 25, son of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Vikram Pundir, died Thursday night after his motorcycle rammed into a roadside pole at the Sector 38/40 light point, police said. His 14-year-old cousin Sahil, riding pillion, sustained minor injuries in the accident.

The mishap occurred around 9:45 pm when the two were approaching the intersection. “The motorcycle lost balance near the light point. Sahil was thrown off, but Uday and the bike continued skidding until they hit an iron pole,” said Sector 39 SHO Chiranji Lal.

An assistant sub-inspector-led police team reached the scene and rushed both to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, where Uday succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The deceased belonged to Attawa village in Sector 42.

Police said CCTV footage and other technical evidence are being reviewed to determine the exact cause. Preliminary findings suggest sudden braking or a road hazard may have caused the skid. “He was reportedly riding at a high speed,” the SHO added.
