AAP Urges INDIA Bloc to Remove Congress

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, 26 December 2024: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has demanded Congress’s expulsion from the INDIA bloc, accusing the party of working in coordination with the BJP. AAP leaders announced plans to consult alliance partners, citing deteriorating relations with Congress as the reason behind this move.

AAP’s discontent stems from statements made by Congress leaders and a complaint filed by the Youth Congress, accusing AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal of misleading voters and fraud. The complaint, registered at Parliament Street police station, demanded an FIR, linking it to poll promises declared void by two Delhi government departments.

“We intend to speak with INDIA bloc partners to remove Congress. Their behavior indicates clear collaboration with the BJP,” an AAP leader asserted.

Tensions escalated further after two Delhi government departments issued notices publicly disowning registration efforts for two welfare schemes introduced by AAP: the Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana and the Sanjeevani Yojana. While AAP promised Rs 2,100 in monthly assistance for women under the first scheme and complete health coverage for senior citizens under the second, the notices deemed these schemes “non-existent” and warned citizens against sharing personal information in unauthorized registrations.

AAP countered the notices, calling them “false and malicious” and vowing legal and administrative action against the responsible officials. Kejriwal blamed the BJP for coercing government officers into issuing the notices.

“The BJP is nervous about the positive reception of these schemes and is using its influence to block Delhi residents from benefitting,” Kejriwal stated, reaffirming that the Delhi Cabinet had approved the financial assistance plan and had already issued a formal notification.

The dispute reflects growing divisions within the INDIA bloc, with AAP’s latest demand raising concerns about the alliance’s unity and long-term stability.
