MUMBAI, Jan 24 — Police have arrested actor Kamaal Rashid Khan in connection with a January 18 firing incident at a suburban residential society. The actor was detained after forensic investigators determined that bullets found at the Nalanda Society in Andheri were likely fired from his own bungalow.
Authorities recovered two bullets from the apartment complex, with one striking the second floor and another landing on the fourth floor. The property on the fourth floor is owned by a model, while the second-floor unit belongs to a writer-director. Despite an initial lack of evidence from surveillance cameras, the forensic trail led police directly to Khan.
The actor was brought in for questioning on Friday night, where he provided a confession regarding the use of his weapon. “The actor admitted to firing two rounds using his licensed firearm,” an official mentioned while discussing the progress of the investigation.
The legal proceedings against the actor are now underway. Police have booked Khan under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Officials are continuing their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the event, as the official added that the exact motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.
