Mohali, June 17: Aerocity residents, especially in Block G, are facing frequent and extended power cuts, with some outages lasting up to eight hours daily over the past five days. Frustrated by the disruption during peak summer, residents met Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh on Monday, alongside officials from Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL).
“We face the same crisis every summer,” said Kuldip Singh, RWA president of Block G. “This time, if no concrete steps are taken, we’ll be forced to protest.”
Residents blamed overloaded and frequently tripping transformers for the blackouts. Arshleen, a resident, said, “The delays in repair due to PSPCL’s manpower shortage put our safety at risk in this extreme heat.”
Responding to the grievances, MLA Kulwant Singh assured the gathering that dedicated PSPCL teams will now be assigned to G Block. He also asked officials to explore alternatives to overhead cabling, which has been causing repeated faults.
PSPCL Deputy Chief Engineer Sukhjeet Singh admitted that GMADA’s infrastructure lapses had worsened the situation. “We’re actively working to fix the underlying faults,” he said.
