24 January 2025- Hundreds of students remain anxious due to the sudden closure of several FIITJEE tutoring centers in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR.

The shutdown has impacted branches in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, and Varanasi, as well as Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar and Noida Sector 62. Patna in Bihar and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh have also been impacted.

Many ambitious engineers have turned to FIITJEE, a renowned organization that specializes in preparing students for competitive tests like the Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE). However, why have so many centers been shut down?

Many cities in North India have seen the closure of FIITJEE tutoring centers as a result of teachers quitting in large numbers since their wages were not paid.

Officials claim that the center’s management first attempted to bring in teachers from Noida, but that attempt was unsuccessful after just a few days. They were forced to close the institute after this.

Parents are furious over the shutdown, and several have filed formal complaints against the institute. Parents accused the education institution of abruptly stopping operations and endangering their children’s academic preparation in one such FIR that was filed in Ghaziabad 10 days ago. In Noida, an identical FIR was also submitted.

The complaint also alleges that teachers at the Ghaziabad center had not been paid their salaries.

A teacher from the Patna branch told Hindustan Times that they haven’t been paid for months.

“I have been teaching there for more than four years but I left the Patna coaching center in November last year as I had not been paid since July,” the teacher said.

FIITJEE has been going through a crisis due to troubles with fresh administrative and civic action against its branches for violating licensing and fire safety rules.
