Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Mongolia After Mid-Air Technical Alert

by TheReportingTimes

New Delhi, November 3 — An Air India Boeing 777 flight from San Francisco to Delhi made a precautionary landing in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, on Sunday after pilots reported a suspected technical snag during the transcontinental journey.

The aircraft, operating as AI174, landed safely with all passengers and crew unharmed, the airline confirmed. The flight had departed from San Francisco at 2.47 pm IST and was scheduled to land in Delhi on Monday night.

Air India said the diversion was made “as a precautionary measure” after a technical warning appeared in the cockpit. “The aircraft is undergoing necessary checks. We are working closely with our partners to support passengers and get everyone to their destination at the earliest opportunity,” an Air India spokesperson said.

At Ulaanbaatar airport, stranded passengers were offered assistance, accommodation, and refreshments while airline engineers carried out inspections.

Authorities said the issue was being handled as per standard aviation safety protocols. “Passenger safety always comes first,” an official said.
