Amarjit Mehta Re-elected PCA President

CHANDIGARH, July 13— Amarjit Singh Mehta has been re-elected president of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for a three-year term, following unanimous approval at the annual general body meeting held at the New Chandigarh stadium on Saturday.

Mehta and his panel were elected unopposed, according to electoral officer Rajeev Sharma (IAS, Retd). The newly formed team includes Deepak Bali as vice-president, Kulwant Singh as secretary, Siddhant Sharma as joint secretary, and Sunil Gupta as treasurer.

Kulwant Singh serves as Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Mohali, while Bali is an adviser to the Punjab Heritage and Tourism Board. Gupta, a businessman from Bathinda, holds the rank of cabinet minister as vice-chairman of the Punjab Economic Policy and Planning Board.

“The general body approved all agenda items unanimously, including the Sher-e-Punjab T20 league for the 2025–26 season,” Gupta said following the meeting.

In addition to the main office-bearers, eleven apex council members were also elected: Arminder Singh, Rajat Bhardwaj, Chanchal Kumar Singla, Amit Bajaj, Birdevinder Singh Natt, Prabhir Singh Brar, Gauravdeep Singh Dhaliwal, Kamal Kumar Arora, Amrinder Vir Singh Barsat, Sahebjit Singh Sehmby and Vikram Kumar.

The PCA also honoured several players and coaches for their achievements in national tournaments. Uday Pratap Saharan, captain of the U-23 men’s team, and head coach VRV Singh were felicitated for winning both the Col CK Nayudu Trophy and the U-23 State-A Trophy. Umesh Gill and RP Singh were recognised for leading the U-16 boys to a runner-up finish in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. Jyoti, skipper of the U-15 women’s team, and coach Yograj were honoured for securing the runners-up spot in this season’s one-day tournament.

The ceremony reflected the association’s renewed focus on strengthening grassroots talent and expanding domestic cricket in Punjab.
