Srinagar, July 31: Over 4 lakh pilgrims have visited the Amarnath cave shrine since the annual 38-day pilgrimage began on July 3, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Thursday, calling it a divine milestone enabled by collective faith and effort.
“Baba Amarnath makes the impossible possible. With his blessings, the holy yatra today crossed the 4 lakh figure. I bow to Lord Shiva for this miracle and express my gratitude to everyone involved in making the pilgrimage a divine experience,” Sinha posted on social media platform X.
Located at an altitude of 3,880 metres, the shrine houses a naturally formed ice lingam of Lord Shiva, attracting devotees from across India and abroad.
Sinha said the high turnout was not only a reflection of religious devotion but also of India’s unity and spiritual resilience. “The record number of darshans and arrival of devotees from across the country and the globe is a testament to India’s unity and its resolve to overcome challenges,” he said.
Calling the yatra an “inimitable journey into pure bliss,” the LG added, “This spiritual expedition is not only challenging but also transformative — it deepens faith, brings self-awareness, and fills the heart with infinite gratitude.”
Last year, the pilgrimage witnessed a turnout of over 5.1 lakh pilgrims. This year’s yatra will conclude on August 9, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival.
The Amarnath Yatra is one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimages, managed with the joint efforts of security forces, administration, volunteers, and spiritual organizations.
