Three campuses searched after anonymous emails

Ambala, Jan 19: A wave of panic hit Ambala on Monday as several schools were forced into lockdown following bomb threats sent through electronic mail.

According to reports, the incident sparked a massive response from the local police department, which dispatched teams to verify the credibility of the threats and sanitize the premises.

The scare began in the morning hours, leading to the immediate notification of security agencies.

Similar to the December 10 threats in Delhi where parents were asked to withdraw their children from classes, the Ambala schools prioritized evacuation and precautionary measures.

Security personnel were observed conducting room-by-room searches, though no explosive devices have been reported so far.

The administration at Riverside DAV Public School confirmed they were among the primary recipients of the threat.

“The police have inspected the buildings and the authorities are on high alert,” said Seema Dutt, the principal of the school.

She further mentioned the scope of the incident, stating, “A total of three schools have received this email.”

Investigation into the origin of the anonymous emails is currently underway as police work to identify the sender.

For now, educational institutions in the region have been advised to maintain a strict vigil and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
