Amritsar, May 29– Amritsar (Rural) police froze properties worth ₹1.30 crore belonging to three drug traffickers — Swarn Singh of Ladhewal village and Sewa Singh and Lovepreet Singh of Muhawa border village.
SSP Maninder Singh said Swarn Singh was arrested last year with 2 kg of heroin and owned a residential property in Ladhewal Hawelia village valued at ₹62.50 lakh.
Two more properties, worth ₹37.88 lakh and ₹29.80 lakh, belonging to Sewa Singh and Lovepreet Singh respectively, were frozen at Muhawa village. Both were held two years ago with 2.6 kg of contraband by Gharinda police.
“These houses were built using drug money,” the SSP said, adding that the properties were identified, assessed and frozen under the NDPS Act after clearance from the competent authority.
Police pasted notices on the walls of the seized properties as part of the legal process. “We are committed to breaking the financial backbone of drug smugglers. More such assets have been identified and sent for evaluation,” he added.
