Arms, heroin smuggling module busted in Amritsar

by TheReportingTimes

Amritsar, October 5 – Punjab Police on Sunday claimed to have busted a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module with links to Pakistan, arresting two men in the process.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav identified the accused as Gurjant Singh and Gurvel Singh, residents of Tarn Taran. Police recovered 2.5 kg of heroin along with five sophisticated pistols and magazines from their possession.

“Preliminary investigation indicates the arrested individuals were acting under the directions of a Pakistan-based smuggler to traffic contraband across the border,” Yadav said on X. “The recovered arms were intended for gangsters and criminals to fuel unlawful activities in Punjab.”

The Punjab Police said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks involved in drug and arms trafficking and curb cross-border smuggling.
