Poonch/Srinagar, May 6 — A Pakistani national was apprehended by Army troops near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
The intruder, believed to be in his early 20s, was detained soon after he crossed over to this side of the LoC. He was immediately taken into custody for questioning. “His identity, motive and possible links are being probed,” an official source said.
The development comes close on the heels of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 people dead, mostly tourists—making it one of the deadliest attacks since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
In a separate operation earlier in the day, two terrorist associates were arrested from Buchpora on the outskirts of Srinagar during naka checking. A pistol, a grenade, and 15 live rounds were recovered from their possession, police said.
The duo was nabbed in Budgam district and is suspected to be linked to recent militant activities in the Valley, officials added.
