by TheReportingTimes

Panchkula, Jan 11: Panchkula police have launched a manhunt for an unidentified driver after a retired Lieutenant General was killed in a hit-and-run incident in the Mansa Devi Complex area.

The victim, 85-year-old Lieutenant General Kulwant Singh Mann, was out for an evening walk on Friday when a vehicle hit him and fled the scene.1 Although he was quickly moved to the Army’s Command Hospital in Chandimandir for emergency care, he could not be saved.

“We are waiting for one of his sons to return from abroad after which the post-mortem will be conducted,” police officials stated on Sunday.

Because the specific stretch of road where the accident occurred lacks surveillance, investigators are now analyzing footage from surrounding entry and exit points to trace the culprit. ACP Dinesh Kumar noted that a formal case has been filed, and the department is prioritizing the identification of the vehicle responsible for the officer’s death.
