Arora seeks direct link from Ladhowal Bypass to Delhi-Katra Expressway

NEW DELHI, August 5 — Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora on Monday urged the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to improve connectivity between the Ladhowal Bypass and the Delhi-Katra Expressway, calling it vital for regional development and daily commuting.

In a meeting with NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav in the capital, Arora raised concerns about the absence of a direct route linking the Ladhowal Bypass to the expressway. “This route is crucial for enhancing transportation and regional connectivity, facilitating smoother travel for residents and commuters,” Arora said in a statement following the meeting.

The minister said the Punjab government is ready to provide land for the project, adding that improved access would significantly ease movement in and around Ludhiana and drive economic growth.

Arora also pointed out that the existing interchanges to the Delhi-Katra Expressway—via Hambran Road and Ferozepur Road—are located far from the city, making daily access inconvenient for Ludhiana residents.

He further requested the NHAI to invite fresh tenders for the pending Ludhiana-Rupnagar road packages and other incomplete segments of the Delhi-Katra Expressway. He briefed Yadav on the current status of the Ludhiana-Rupnagar works and emphasized their importance for the region’s infrastructure push.

“The chairman assured us of immediate action on the stalled projects,” Arora said.
