Bains Eyes AI-Driven Revolution for Punjab Education System

Strategic talks held with Google and NVIDIA to introduce adaptive learning in state schools

CHANDIGARH/NEW DELHI, February 20, 2026 —  Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains has initiated talks with international technology firms to bring advanced AI capabilities to state-run schools. Speaking at the India AI Impact Expo in New Delhi, the minister outlined a vision for an AI-enhanced pedagogy that supports both students and educators.

The discussions with firms such as Dell, Intel, and Deloitte centered on real-time monitoring analytics and teacher support systems. Minister Bains affirmed that the state is looking for practical, AI-enabled applications that can be implemented on a large scale to oversee school infrastructure and student progress.

“This visit would help to equip Punjab’s future generations with the tools of tomorrow,” Bains stated. He asserted that by integrating these new technologies with federal policy frameworks, the state would create a more responsive and personalized learning environment. He maintained that the focus remains on ensuring that no student is left behind in the digital age.

The Minister, along with Secretary of School Education Sonali Giri and other top officials, met with pioneers like Wadhwani AI and Bodh.ai. These conversations focused on specialized tools for Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN). Bains declared that using AI for multilingual learning tools would be particularly beneficial for the diverse needs of Punjab’s student population.

Bains also stated that the presence of Punjab-based startups at the expo reflects the state’s growing prowess in the EdTech sector. He affirmed that the administration would continue to foster an ecosystem where homegrown technology meets the needs of the public education system. He concluded by declaring that the government’s goal is to ensure technology acts as a personalized guide for every child in the state.
