Chandigarh, November 4: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for their World Cup victory against South Africa, saying the achievement had made every Indian proud and reaffirmed Punjab’s deep sporting spirit.

Interacting with team members through video conferencing, Mann described the win as a defining moment for women’s sports in the country. “Our daughters have created history,” he said. “They are the pride of Punjab and the true brand ambassadors of our state. We will welcome them with full honour once they return.”

Mann said the win symbolized the power of perseverance and teamwork. “This World Cup victory has brought glory to the entire nation,” he said. “Our daughters have shown that dedication and hard work can take Indian sports to new heights.”

He added that Punjab had long been a key contributor to India’s success in sports, noting that national teams in cricket, hockey, basketball, and football currently have captains from the state. “It is a proud moment for Punjab that our players are leading India in multiple arenas,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he hoped the team’s success would motivate young athletes, especially girls, to dream bigger. “This win will inspire future generations to follow the path of discipline, passion, and self-belief,” Mann said, calling the victory a testament to the spirit of Indian women.
