Bidding window opens for CHB e-auction

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, Nov 21, 2025: The Chandigarh Housing Board has begun preparations for its upcoming e-auction of 16 properties, inviting prospective buyers to participate in a process that will run for nearly a month before concluding on January 7.

The auction catalogue features six freehold residential flats and 10 commercial units on a leasehold basis. Board officials said the residential units are all Category IV flats situated in Indira Colony, Manimajra, while the commercial spaces are spread across Manimajra and Sector 40A.

“Inspections can be carried out every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” an official said, confirming that the viewing schedule has already attracted footfall from potential bidders. The reserve price of the residential flats ranges from ₹38.20 lakh to ₹41.06 lakh, while the commercial properties are priced between ₹42.99 lakh and ₹85.50 lakh.

The CHB opened the Earnest Money Deposit submission on Wednesday and will keep the window open until December 11 at 5 p.m. Bidding will begin at 9 a.m. on December 12 and continue until 4 p.m. on the auction’s closing day.

The board said the units will be allotted strictly to the highest qualifying bidders above the reserve price. Officials also clarified tax liabilities. “Residential units and built-up commercial properties will not attract GST on the premium,” an official noted. “In leasehold cases, however, GST will be charged on the annual lease money or ground rent.”

With the auction dates set and bidding parameters defined, the board anticipates keen competition across categories as the new year’s first major property sale approaches.
