Bishnoi Gang Hitman Held in Punjab

by TheReportingTimes

Jalandhar, July 8 — Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested a key operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, foiling a targeted killing plot and recovering two loaded pistols in the process, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said.

The accused, Himanshu Sood, a resident of Phagwara in Kapurthala district, was arrested by the counter-intelligence team in Jalandhar. Police said Sood was operating on the instructions of Namit Sharma, a Dubai-based associate of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi.

“Sood, along with other gang members, had recently fired shots at a hotelier in Haridwar. He was further tasked to eliminate two more individuals — one in Madhya Pradesh and another in Kapurthala,” DGP Yadav said in a post on X.

Two pistols — a .30-bore PX3 with four cartridges and a .32 pistol with three cartridges — were recovered from the accused, police said. The seizure and arrest followed coordinated efforts using human intelligence and technical surveillance.

“With timely action, Punjab Police successfully dismantled a targeted killing module and prevented a major threat to public safety,” the DGP said.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. Investigators are working to identify Sood’s accomplices and trace both forward and backward linkages within the Bishnoi gang network.
