Chandigarh, Oct 26: In a coordinated operation with global agencies, Haryana’s Special Task Force (STF) has arrested Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, following his deportation from the United States.
Police said Lakha, hailing from Titram village in Kaithal district, had fled India in 2022 and continued to manage extortion rackets in Haryana and Punjab under the instructions of Anmol Bishnoi. He was allegedly involved in multiple cases of firing and threats targeting businessmen and property dealers.
“Lakha had become one of the key players in the Bishnoi gang’s overseas network. His return and arrest were crucial to disrupting the gang’s financial chain,” an STF officer noted.
Authorities stated that several first information reports were filed against him in Sonepat, Rohtak, Yamunanagar, Kaithal and Ambala last year. To locate him, a Look Out Circular was issued in 2023, followed by a Red Corner Notice in 2024.
After a year-long effort involving coordination with international enforcement agencies, the STF’s Ambala unit completed the deportation process and took him into custody upon arrival, officials confirmed.
Police said the arrest reflects the expanding global coordination to tackle cross-border organised crime linked to Indian gang networks.
