Patna, March 5: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has officially entered the race for the Rajya Sabha. The Chief Minister filed his papers on Thursday alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah, confirming his departure from state-level executive roles to fulfill a long-held legislative ambition.
The transition paves the way for a BJP-led government in the state. While Nityanand Rai and Samrat Choudhary are being considered for the top post, the new arrangement is expected to include Nishant Kumar as the Deputy Chief Minister.
“In keeping with this aspiration, I seek to become a member of the Rajya Sabha in the elections being held this time,” Mr. Kumar declared.
The Chief Minister asserted that his relationship with the people of Bihar would continue unchanged. He stated that the progress made during his two-decade tenure was a result of the consistent support from the public, which he remains grateful for.
“It was the power of your trust and support that has enabled Bihar today to present a new dimension of development and dignity,” Mr. Kumar affirmed.
He further maintained that he would remain a guiding force for the state’s future leadership. He noted that his entry into the Rajya Sabha completes his goal of serving in all four legislative houses at the state and central levels.
