BJP names Pradhan Bihar poll in-charge

by TheReportingTimes

Patna, Sept. 25 — The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday appointed Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as its in-charge for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, with Gujarat BJP chief C.R. Patil and Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya named as co-incharges. Party media in-charge Sanjay Mayukh confirmed the appointments.

Pradhan, considered a key strategist for the party, has long-standing ties with Bihar. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state in 2012 and played a crucial role in the BJP’s strong performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission issued fresh directives to the Bihar government to complete transfer and posting of officers and staff across departments by October 6. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, the Commission instructed that no officer or employee be posted within their home district. It further mandated compulsory transfers for all officers completing three years in their present posting by November 30, 2025.

The Commission noted that the Bihar Assembly elections could be announced any time after October 6, making the transfer policy a safeguard to ensure fairness and transparency in the process. Officials also indicated that Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar may visit Bihar following the completion of transfers.
