Gurdaspur, Jan 23: A major security alert was sounded in Gurdaspur after four prominent schools received emails threatening explosive attacks. The threats, which specified a coordinated detonation time of 1:11 pm, led to the immediate suspension of classes and the evacuation of campus buildings across the district.
The affected institutions include Trinity Public School, Gurdaspur Public School, Jawahar Navodeya Vidyalaya at Daburi, and Jia Lal Mittal DAV Public School. Law enforcement agencies moved quickly to secure the sites, while the district administration advised parents to collect their children following the early closure.
The threatening message contained a warning against the observance of Republic Day. The sender directly said that the “January 26 event should not be celebrated by hoisting the tricolor in any school because this tricolor caused the genocide of Sikhs.”
Investigators are currently examining the technical details of the emails to identify the organization responsible for the scare. Police noted that while the situation is being handled with extreme caution, they are working to determine if the threat is a hoax or a serious security concern. Officers have been stationed at all major educational hubs in the area to maintain order and provide reassurance to the public during the ongoing search operations.
