Muktsar, Jan 27: Against the domestic ties of overseas criminal entities, the Muktsar police have apprehended the parents of designated terrorist Goldy Brar. Shamsher Singh, a retired police official, and his wife Preetpal Kaur were picked up by investigators in Amritsar.
The duo is being questioned regarding their alleged involvement in a 2024 extortion matter that has been under active investigation.
The police initiated the arrests following a specific lead related to a case registered at the Sadar Muktsar police station.
A local resident from Udekaran village had approached the authorities, leading to the formal charges.
“Goldy Brar’s father and mother were arrested from Amritsar in an extortion case registered on the complaint of a resident of Udekaran village,” stated Sub-Inspector Darshan Singh.
Shamsher Singh’s history with the Punjab police ended abruptly five years ago. He was removed from his post as an Assistant Sub-Inspector through compulsory retirement in 2021.
His exit from the force was prompted by allegations connecting him to a murder investigation in the Muktsar area.
His son, Satinderjit Singh, has been a central focus for both state and federal agencies since the killing of Shubhdeep Singh Moosewala. Although he is believed to be operating from North America, the Punjab government has maintained a steady pressure on his local associates and family members.
National agencies noted that Brar shifted base after leaving India on a student visa nearly a decade ago. Despite his distance, his influence on local crime has been a point of concern for the central government, which used the UAPA to label him a terrorist in 2024.
The current arrests are viewed as a step toward neutralizing the logistical support available to such absconders within the state.
